Free Intro to CHI Running Workshops
Don't miss this oppurtunity to learn about Chi running from Certified Chi Running Instructor James Rooney
Special FREE Introductory Workshops to CHI Running are coming to Running Free Newmarket and Markham!
ChiRunning combines the inner focus and flow of T'ai Chi with the power and energy of running to create a revolutionary running form and philosophy that takes the pounding, pain, and potential damage out of the sport of running. The ChiRunning program increases mental clarity and focus, enhances the joy of running, and turns running into a safe and effective lifelong program for health, fitness, and well-being.
More than 24 million people in the U.S. alone run, however 65% of runners in the U.S., 15.6 million people, will have to stop running at least once during the year due to injury. Millions more quit or avoid running because of injury or the fear of causing long-term damage. Yet, there have been few new ideas or fresh approaches to running and injury prevention. The symptoms are being treated, but the problem has not been solved - until now.
The ChiRunning program offers a real solution to the high rate of injury that plagues the sport of running.
Who can benefit from Chi Running?
Chi Running has helped many people, from beginners to cross country runners to triathletes. Whether you are just beginning a running program or training for a marathon, race, or triathlon, the
Chi Running approach is one that builds a healthy body, instead of breaking it down from misuse or overuse.
What is the focus of Chi Running?
Chi Running helps reduce or eliminate injury and pain such as: knee pain, hip pain, IT Band Syndrome (ITB), hamstring pulls, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, soreness and fatigue. Conditioning your mind is just as important as conditioning your body. Let Chi Running help you focus your mind, lift your spirit and open up your flow of chi.
Workshop Dates:
Running Free Newmarket: Saturday, September 18th from 10:00am to 11:30am
Running Free Markham: Thursday, August 26th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Check out the many key-learning opportunities that Running Free and PB have for you over the balance of the summer.
MUSKOKA TRI-CLINICS (July 10th & 11th)
If your racing Muskoka Triathlon in July or September, let course record holder Sean Bechtel coach you at the race site. So far in 2010, Bechtel has been undefeated in the Subaru Series winning each race in course record time. Bechtel and team-mate Dave Sharratt will be running two separate half-day clinics in Muskoka to help you prepare for summer racing. Register at www.personalbest.ca
JULY 10th: This 10am-4pm training clinic is designed for intermediate and advanced triathletes who want to set new PB’s on the Muskoka
courses. Participants in this clinic should be in good shape and
wanting to push hard when training on the actual course. Sean
and Dave will share their inside trade-secrets during the day.
JULY 11th: This 10am-2pm training clinic is designed for novice people
who want to improve their open water swim skills & improve
their hilly bike riding.
BELLWOOD TRI-CLINIC (JULY 13TH)
A great opportunity to train on the actual Bellwood Triathlon Course from 6:30-8:30pm. Dave and Sean will meet you at the race site and start with an open water swim, followed by biking and running on the course with you. Perfect for novice people who want to feel more comfortable on race day. Register at www.personalbest.ca
PB SIMULATED TRIATHLON TRAINING DAY IN CALEDON (JULY 10th)

The day will start with all participants swimming in the clean quarry @ 7:30am (1-4km). Then depending on the distance of racing you are training for, Barrie will have a looped bike ride of 30-150km ready for you. Off the bike for a 5-25km run on the flat rail-trail in Caledon. Barrie and the team will support you with fluid, van support, training partners and wisdom. Instead of racing on the July 10th, why not come and learn in the safe-fun Simulated Training Day in Caledon. Details at www.personalbest.ca
